we did not plan a golden hour drop. it happened because saanvi came back from a trip obsessed with the way the light looked at 6pm, and said, 'what if we made something that smells like that'.
the answer is: it takes six months.
the first candle batch smelled like nothing. the second smelled like a hotel lobby, which is worse than nothing. the third — after we stopped chasing 'sunset' and just built it around amber, fig, and a curl of woodsmoke — smelled like the thing we meant. the prints came after, matched to the same warm light.
we made twelve. one for each month of the year, was the conceit. each candle batch is poured a shade different, so each one is technically its own thing. you can tell which is which if you line them up; you can't tell when they're alone.
the drop sold out in nine days. we did not expect that. we are not planning a re-stock. we'll probably do a different warm-toned drop next spring, because we now know how to make it work.
