Why kynq is 18+ only

How it works

You sign in with an email code, and the first time you use video chat you're asked for your date of birth. If it shows you are under 18, the account can't join the matching queue. The date of birth is set once and can't be edited afterwards, so it can't be changed to get around the check.

Why not a tick-box

A box saying "I am over 18" takes one click to lie to. Asking for a real date of birth is a small extra step, but it removes the easiest way in and gives us something to check against.

What it doesn't do

A date of birth is a self-declared answer, not a government ID check, and we don't claim it catches everyone. That is why it's one layer among several: reporting inside every call, blocking, and restricting accounts that are reported — including for looking under 18.

If you think someone is a minor

Report them from inside the call and choose "Looks under 18". It goes to the same review as every other report.

Questions

Do you store my date of birth?

Yes — it's stored with your account so the age check can't be repeated or bypassed. It is not shown to other people.

Can I change my date of birth?

No. It's set once, on purpose.

Is kynq available to under-18s?

No.
